Walking Dead Series And AMC

The world of graphic novels got a huge boost today as AMC announced a deal to bring the comic series “Walking Dead” by Robert Kirkman  to their channel. This is a major score for a cable network that has been producing some great serialized dramas lately. With the success of Mad Men and Breaking Bad which have been experiencing great reviews since they debuted.

One great aspect of this AMC deal to bring the Walking Dead to the small screen is the fact that the deal includes Frank Darabont to pretty much run the whole show. With movie credits like the Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption and a bunch of other movies hopefully the tone and direction of the show will be true to the original source material.

Who doesn’t love a good story about the apocalypse, zombies and fighting for a new way of life. This project is just great news for comic book fans in general as it only goes further to validate the fact that there is quality material in the world of comic books that needs to be shown in the proper forum. Either in movies or on the TV it’s just great to see a quality comic book being given a quality deal to bring it to the masses.

They did not announce a time frame for the new series or any thoughts on which actors may be attached to the project. Hopefully casting news for the Walking Dead will hit the internet in the coming weeks and we will see the new series next fall or even better next spring or summer! Here is a link to one of the original news stories regarding the AMC Walking Dead deal.
